The Indo-Japan Business Council (IJBC) plans to organize the “India-Japan Education Conference” during September-October 2024, within the framework of Japan Month. During the conference, it seeks to foster communications in the fields of education and culture. It aims to begin a new chapter of cooperation between them and the North East States that it has identified.

The key areas of cooperation during the event will be students’ exchanges, scholarships, and research activities. It will also involve cultural events, creative boot camps, seminars on incubating ideas and innovations, and business connections.

India-Japan Education Conference: Objectives

Enhance Educational Exchange: Promote Japanese student exchange programs, scholarships, and collaborative research between Japanese and education institutions based in North Eastern India.
Foster Cultural Integration: Encourage multicultural awareness and assimilation through classes and activities, including language courses, workshops, and cultural celebrations of peoples’ backgrounds.
Innovation and Technology Transfer: Promote cooperation and exchange in areas of common interest including, but not limited to sustainable agriculture, biotechnology, information technology, and renewable energy, as determined by the states’ development objectives in the North East region.
Create Networking and Career Opportunities: Provide students with opportunities to meet academics, professionals, and policymakers so they can find new career and research directions.

The northeastern states are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. These states significantly differ from the rest of India by their natural beauty, multiculturalism, and multilingualism. Another thing missing in this context is a clear focus on the North East’s strengths and opportunities within the framework of Indo-Japan relations; this is where the “India-Japan Education Conference” comes into play.
