Starting from July 2, Indian students wishing to study in Poland must apply for their study visa through the e-consult system.

The embassy has also announced that interview appointment dates will be provided sequentially for registration through the Polish Embassy in New Delhi.

These new rules apply to Indian students applying through the Polish Embassy and the Consulate in Mumbai.

The Polish Embassy in New Delhi will conduct interviews for students from the following states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi or the National Capital Region, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh.

Other states include Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, as well as the South Asian countries Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and the Maldives.

The Polish Consulate in Mumbai will interview students from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala, and Goa.

The same provisions apply to applicants from Union Territories such as Puducherry, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs data revealed that more than 5,000 Indian students pursued education in Poland in 2022.

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, which has led some Indian students to abandon their studies in medicine there, Poland has become an attractive alternative for studying medicine.

However, as Poland becomes increasingly popular among international students, Polish authorities are considering changes to the study and work visa regimes.

There are rumours that Poland may implement a pre-selection mechanism for admissions, and there may be restrictions on international students’ employment in Poland. Additionally, thresholds for obtaining a visa or residence permit might be raised, along with the minimum funds required, as reported by Schengen News.
