New Delhi: Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently engaged in discussions with a high-level delegation from Johns Hopkins University (JHU), USA, to explore academic and research collaborations with Indian institutions. The meeting, led by JHU President Ronald J. Daniels, focused on strengthening ties between the two countries in education and research.

The delegation, which included members of the Gupta Klinsky India Institute (GKII), deliberated on establishing deeper partnerships between JHU and India’s premier Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Key topics included collaborative research, academic programmes, policy development, and potentially establishing an offshore JHU campus in India.

Prominent faculty members of Indian origin from JHU, such as Professor Mathuram Santosham and Professor Chirag Parikh, were part of the discussions. Other distinguished attendees included Alexander Triantis, Dean of Carey Business School, Amita Gupta, GKII Co-Founder, alongside several academicians and administrators.

Pradhan highlighted India’s National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) as a transformative framework enabling international academic collaborations. He lauded JHU’s initiatives in fostering global knowledge exchange through joint degree programmes, faculty mobility, and research in fields like artificial intelligence and data science.

The delegation’s tour of multiple cities in India underscores the growing significance of India-US educational cooperation. JHU representatives will visit Indian university campuses and meet government officials to advance internationalisation efforts and expand JHU’s operations in India.

This collaboration aims to strengthen academic excellence and foster innovation across both nations.
