Purdue University Faculty Members Honoured with National Academy of Inventors Award

Two faculty members from Purdue University in the United States have been named fellows of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), the highest professional distinction for academic inventors. Edward Delp and Arun Ghosh were recognised for their groundbreaking contributions in their respective fields.

Edward Delp, a professor of biomedical engineering, has made significant advancements in video processing, medical imaging, and multimedia security. His work has had a profound impact on national security and healthcare. Delp, who is also the director of Purdue’s Video and Image Processing Laboratory, expressed his honour at receiving the award, noting that it reflected the collective efforts of his colleagues, students, and the university’s support for innovation.

Arun Ghosh, a professor of medicinal chemistry and molecular pharmacology, was recognised for his contributions to drug discovery and chemistry. His research has focused on diseases such as SARS/COVID-19, Alzheimer’s, and HIV/AIDS, and he holds over 70 U.S. patents. Ghosh shared his gratitude for the recognition, emphasising the importance of advancing research to improve health outcomes.

Both researchers have worked with Purdue’s Innovates Office of Technology Commercialisation, which helps protect intellectual property and bring cutting-edge research to the global marketplace. The award highlights the continued excellence of Purdue University’s faculty and their impact on both academia and industry.
