The British Psychological Society (BPS) has officially opened applications for its Postgraduate Study Visit Scheme 2025, offering funding to doctoral psychology students in the UK for academic research visits within the UK, Europe, or internationally. The deadline for applications is 8 June 2025.

The scheme provides financial support to eligible members currently enrolled in doctoral-level psychology programmes such as PhDs or DClinPsy at UK universities. Master’s students are not eligible for the scheme.

Under the initiative, successful applicants can receive funding of up to £500 for visits within the UK, £800 for European institutions, and £1,200 for destinations in other countries. The funding covers visits of up to six weeks, aimed at enhancing research opportunities and fostering international academic collaboration.

To apply, candidates must be Graduate Members of the British Psychological Society and submit an application form along with a statement from their doctoral supervisor, an updated CV, and a confirmation letter from the host institution. The BPS emphasises that the grant holder will be responsible for all arrangements and must notify the Society of the finalised visit dates.

Previous recipients have utilised the funding for diverse research projects, including studies on mental health literacy in Brazil, auditory verbal hallucinations in Norway, and early career academic visits to institutions such as Université Grenoble Alpes.

“This scheme is a fantastic opportunity for psychology postgraduates in the UK to expand their research horizons and collaborate with experts from around the world,” said a spokesperson from BPS.

With the UK continuing to promote international research collaboration, the Postgraduate Study Visit Scheme highlights the country’s commitment to academic mobility and global engagement in psychology.

Students are encouraged to apply early to take full advantage of this unique opportunity to broaden their academic exposure and contribute meaningfully to global psychological research.
