Oxford University Tops QS World Subject Rankings in English, Anatomy, and Geography

The University of Oxford, England, has once again demonstrated academic excellence in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025. The institution has secured the top position in three disciplines: English Language and Literature, Anatomy and Physiology, and Geography.

For the ninth consecutive year, Oxford’s Faculty of English has been ranked number one, sharing the top spot with the University of Cambridge. Professor Simon Horobin, Chair of the English Faculty Board, expressed his delight, stating, “It’s wonderful to see the exceptional research, teaching, learning, and support carried out by our faculty, staff, and students being recognised in this way.”

Meanwhile, Oxford’s Department of Physiology, Anatomy, and Genetics has held the top ranking for six consecutive years. Professor David Paterson, Head of the Department, congratulated the team, saying, “Maintaining our top spot for six years in a row is an incredible achievement. I am very proud of our performance.”

Additionally, Oxford’s School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE) continues its dominance, claiming the top position for an impressive 15th successive year. Professor Giles Wiggs, Head of SoGE, commented, “This accolade is a testament to the commitment and talent of all academic, research, and professional services staff across the School.”

Oxford Launches Sustainable Resource Research Initiative

Beyond academic rankings, the University of Oxford has announced a new multidisciplinary research initiative, the Oxford EARTH Program, aimed at pioneering sustainable resource use. Professor Jim Naismith, Head of the Mathematical, Physical, and Life Sciences Division, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “Oxford EARTH brings together expertise from sciences, engineering, and social sciences to drive innovative solutions for sustainable resource management.”

As the UK continues to lead in global education, Oxford University’s consistent excellence reaffirms its position as a world-class institution.
