Continuing their excellent progress, as many as 146 Indian students, including 75 female students and 71 male students, have been awarded the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to pursue a one-year master’s degree programme in Europe for the academic year 2024-2025. India is ranked among the top countries benefiting from these scholarships.

From the Delegation of the European Union to India and Bhutan: “So far, a total of 2,603 students from 137 countries have received scholarships this year for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s degree, which offers a study programme delivered by an international consortium of higher education institutions.”

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Programme will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2024, a significant milestone that highlights the programme’s positive impact on students, higher education institutions, and countries outside the European Union.

A statement said, “India has been the largest beneficiary of the programme, with over 2,000 students receiving the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship since 2004.” The statement added, “More than 6,000 Erasmus+ short- and long-term scholarships have been awarded to Indian students since the programme opened to international students in 2004.”

The European Union’s Delegation to India arranged a reception for the grantees, marking the EU-India People-to-People contacts and exchanges. These scholars will begin their international degree programmes in Europe this coming September.

The selected students will be able to study and conduct research at a minimum of two universities in different European countries and earn a joint or double degree in a wide range of fields, such as sustainability, pharmacy, engineering, quantum science, data science, and various STEM and social science disciplines. The scholarship is a fully funded programme that covers the beneficiary’s tuition fees, travel, and living expenses.
