Interested candidates can apply for the MSc Social Network Analysis program at the University of Manchester for the 2024 session. This paper aims to provide an overview of the MSc in Social Network Analysis (SNA) course at the University of Manchester and its objectives in relation to the broader context of social science theories, techniques, and implementation.

Programme Delivery:

Degree Awarded: Postgraduate program: the Master of Science (MSc) in Social Network Analysis.
Duration: 1 year

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s honors degree (minimum of 2:1 or equivalent overseas qualification) in social sciences, mathematics, physics, computer science, or the overseas equivalent.
  • A minimum of 7 in the IELTS Academic test across all test components and a minimum band of 7 in the writing sub-test with no sub-test result lower than 6.
  • A minimum score of 100 in TOEFL IBT with a writing section of at least 25 and no section below 22. The TOEFL code for Manchester is 0757.
  • An overall Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic score of 76, including writing 76, and no other score to be below 70.

Pre-Sessional English Courses:

Those applicants who do not meet these scores would still be considered for admission to the University of Manchester but on the condition that they may have to undertake a pre-sessional English language course in the University before joining the course.

    1. 6-Week Pre-Sessional Course: Red on white: IELTS 6. undefined No more than five sub-skills of 6 in writing and no more than one sub-skill of 6 undefined.
    1. 10-Week Pre-sessional Course: or IELTS 6. undefined Any score of 0 or above in each of the sub-skill.

The best research methods, which are followed in the formation of a general structure, research design, and selection and design of data collection techniques, as well as advanced statistical modeling to analyze complicated networks of information and derive understanding out of it, will be taught to the students, as stated in the University of Manchester’s latest press release.
