The University of Sheffield, UK has announced a new four-year Master of Pharmacy degree programme, set to launch in September 2025. For more details about the Pharmacy degree and information on how to apply, visit sheffield.ac.uk/ahpnm/pharmacy.

According to a statement from the University of Sheffield, the new Master of Pharmacy programme aims to equip students with the knowledge and training needed to become skilled, patient-oriented pharmacists within the NHS. Students will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in community, hospital, and primary care settings.

Professor Susan Matthews, Head of Pharmacy at the University of Sheffield’s School of Allied Health Professions, Nursing, and Midwifery, said: “Pharmacists have a responsibility to enhance patients’ survival and quality of life. Our vision is to educate future pharmacists who are not only knowledgeable about their medications but also empathetic healthcare professionals capable of making a real difference. Sheffield Pharmacy graduates will be dedicated pharmacists for and within their communities.”

Another exciting feature of the course is the social accountability placement. This allows students to secure placements with over 130 community partners within the voluntary service sector, where they will design and implement activities that positively impact both their own health and the overall health of the community.

Pharmacy Technicians can also pursue a Pharmacy degree through the University of Sheffield’s Department for Lifelong Learning, with the Master of Pharmacy with a Preparatory Year programme.
It is important to note that the University of Sheffield is seeking accreditation for this programme from the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). The programme will be provisionally accredited until the formal accreditation process is successfully completed.
