The Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), Ireland has announced its much-awaited 2024 Christmas Showcase. The event will run from 3 December to 23 December 2024, offering a unique cultural experience in the heart of Limerick.

The showcase will feature over 100 talented artists presenting a mix of fine art, ceramics, fashion, sculpture and photography. For the first time, the exhibition will transform the former Debenhams building in Limerick city into a vibrant creative hub.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative: ‘The transformation of the unoccupied Debenhams building into a pop-up gallery is a wonderful way to bring life and creativity to this part of Limerick. This event celebrates LSAD’s incredible talent while fostering community engagement and festive cheer’.

Building on previous successes, Lidija Savickaite, head of the LSAD Exhibition Society, shared her excitement: ‘After two successful showcases, we aimed for something even bigger this year. Thanks to the TUS faculty, we’ve turned a derelict space into a dynamic community hub, uniting students, alumni and local artists’.

The exhibition will spotlight renowned artists such as Gavin Hogg, Frank McCarthy, Ann McBride and Shane Vaughan of Limerick Printmakers, among others. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase artworks and support emerging talent.

With its mix of creativity and community spirit, the TUS Christmas Showcase promises to be a grand celebration of local art, bringing together the people of Ireland for a festive and inspiring cultural experience.
