University of Strathclyde Introduces MSc in Statistics & Data Science

The University of Strathclyde, UK, has launched a new MSc in Statistics & Data Science to meet the growing demand for data professionals. This conversion course is designed to equip students with essential skills in big data processing, machine learning, predictive modelling, and statistical analysis.

Dr Kim Kavanagh, Postgraduate Director, stated: “This programme allows students to gain valuable analytical and programming skills in a short time frame. Graduates will be highly attractive to industry due to their experience in programming, modelling, and visualisation.”

Course Details and Eligibility

The MSc programme will commence in 2025, welcoming students from diverse academic backgrounds. Applicants must hold at least a second-class (2:2) Honours degree. International students will be required to pay £25,500 for the 2025/26 academic year.

Students will gain hands-on experience with statistical tools such as R and Python, preparing them for careers in finance, healthcare, commerce, and insurance. The university emphasises industry collaboration, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the evolving data science sector.

A webinar on 6 May 2025 at 14:00 BST will provide an overview of the course, allowing prospective students to interact with the admissions team and faculty.

Scholarships and Career Prospects

Eligible students will receive a £5,000 scholarship, automatically deducted from tuition fees. Graduates of this programme will be equipped for roles as data scientists and applied statisticians in sectors reliant on advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making.
