Korean Government Strengthens Bilateral Ties with India Through New Agreement

The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has signed a landmark Bilateral Exchange of Notes with the Government of India, reinforcing their shared commitment to sustainable development and mutual growth. This agreement marks a significant step in deepening the partnership between the two nations.
The signing ceremony, which took place in New Delhi, was attended by Ambassador Lee Seong-ho of Korea, alongside Ms. Manisha Sinha, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India. The new agreement underscores the increasing collaboration between India and South Korea, particularly in areas of skill development, technological innovation, and sustainable growth.
Ambassador Lee Seong-ho highlighted KOICA’s dedication to empowering youth through education and skills training. He emphasised that programmes like the TVET Mechatronics Project, developed in collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), are pivotal in equipping students with advanced technical skills to meet the demands of Industry 4.0.
“We aim to prepare youth for a competitive global environment by leveraging future-ready technology skills. Collaboration with academic institutions is crucial in building these competencies,” said Ambassador Lee.
This new initiative also signals the growing educational relationship between India and South Korea. With an increasing number of Korean students pursuing studies in India, particularly in fields such as engineering and social sciences, and Indian students choosing South Korea for its advanced technical courses, the two countries are forging closer ties in higher education.
As the agreement progresses, both countries aim to expand their collaboration, not just in education, but also through research institutions and business corridors. This exchange marks the beginning of a deeper partnership in multiple sectors, laying the groundwork for further mutual growth and development.
