The University of Sheffield, UK, has announced the opening of applications for its Aerospace Engineering MEng course, starting in September 2025. This programme, an extended version of the university’s aerospace engineering degree, includes additional flight training, preparing students for careers in the aerospace industry.

The course spans four years, covering modules on instrumentation, propulsion, aerodynamics, and design, along with hands-on pilot training. Students will receive five hours of ground instruction and benefit from partnerships with local flying schools. An optional placement year is available, offering valuable work experience and networking opportunities.

Applicants must have at least 90% in Class 12 with mathematics and a science subject, a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in each component), or an equivalent English language qualification. While the tuition fees for 2025 are yet to be confirmed, £29,110 for 2024-25 can be used as a reference.

Additional costs include fees for flying lessons set by the Yorkshire Aero Club and Civil Aviation exams. The final year features a research project guided by the university’s renowned academics, emphasising project management and interdisciplinary communication skills.
