University of Sheffield Opens Applications for BSc Computer Science (AI) for September 2026 Intake

The University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom has officially opened applications for its BSc Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence programme for the September 2026 intake.

This three-year undergraduate course, based in the UK, offers students the opportunity to opt for an additional placement year at a later stage in the programme. The extended option includes valuable exposure through internships or study abroad opportunities, allowing students to build global experience alongside their academic training.

Applicants aiming to enrol in the BSc Computer Science AI programme are expected to have scored between 85% and 90% in Class 12, with Mathematics and Computer Science as core subjects. Additionally, candidates must meet the English language requirement, which includes an overall IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component or an equivalent qualification.

While the tuition fee for the 2026 entry is yet to be announced, prospective international students can refer to the 2025–26 overseas tuition fee set at £30,570 as an approximate benchmark.

“This core knowledge will prepare students to delve into the captivating world of AI, where they will explore areas like machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics,” the university noted in an official statement.

The course curriculum is structured to offer foundational knowledge in the first two years, followed by a flexible final year where students can tailor their modules to specific interests. The final year also includes a dissertation project under the guidance of a faculty member.

Accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), the programme fully meets the academic requirements for Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status and partially meets those for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Highlighting its future-ready approach, the University of Sheffield’s programme equips students with both theoretical understanding and practical skills in software engineering, algorithms, programming, and AI technologies such as biologically inspired algorithms, computer vision, and robotics.

Applications are now open, offering students a strong foundation in AI and a pathway to a dynamic tech career.
