The Republic of Uzbekistan has announced five fully funded scholarships exclusively for Indian students to pursue master’s degree programmes in tourism and cultural heritage for the 2025–26 academic year. The initiative is hosted by the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, located in the historic city of Samarkand.

These scholarships aim to promote educational cooperation and cultural exchange between Uzbekistan and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member countries, with a strong emphasis on tourism-led development and heritage preservation.

The courses offered under the programme include Museum Studies, Archaeology, and Management, all taught entirely in English at Uzbekistan’s first state university to offer instruction exclusively in the language.

The university is known for its modern “smart campus” and international collaborations, offering a learning environment that blends technological advancement with cultural depth.

Each selected candidate will receive:

  • Round-trip airfare to and from Uzbekistan (economy class) once per year
  • A monthly stipend of USD 500
  • Accommodation support of USD 100 per month
  • Two annual cultural visits within Uzbekistan with a USD 100 travel allowance per trip

This comprehensive package ensures that students can focus on both academic pursuits and immersive cultural experiences.

To apply, students must submit:

  • A valid passport or national ID
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate
  • A CV with contact details
  • A passport-sized photograph
  • Proof of English proficiency (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 72, or CEFR B2), unless their prior degree was taught in English
  • A 1–1.5 page essay titled “Contributing to the Development of Tourism of the SCO Countries”

Applications must be submitted via admissions.univ-silkroad.uz by 1 August 2025.

This announcement reaffirms Uzbekistan’s commitment to becoming a regional education hub while deepening academic links with India through meaningful opportunities in tourism and cultural studies.
