GITAM, UNCW, and University of Surrey Launch International Consulting Immersion Programme

GITAM Deemed to be University has partnered with the University of Surrey, UK, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), USA, to introduce the International Consulting Immersion Programme (ICIP). This initiative aims to provide students with hands-on consulting experience, working in diverse teams to solve real-world business challenges presented by corporate partners.

A senior delegation from UNCW visited GITAM to discuss key areas of collaboration, including faculty exchange, student exchange, joint degree programmes, and student immersion. The delegation comprised prominent academics such as Undergraduate Academic Advisor Jerry Benton, MBA Programme Director Nivine Richie, MSc in Business Analytics Faculty Director Manoj Vanajakumari, and Associate Provost Chris Finelli.

Strengthening Global Ties in Education

The University of Surrey, UK, is actively contributing to the programme, strengthening its ties with international institutions. The UK has long been a leader in fostering global academic partnerships, and this collaboration further enhances opportunities for student mobility and faculty engagement.

A GITAM spokesperson stated, “The ICIP is designed to provide students with hands-on consulting experience over a nine-month period, where diverse teams will address real-world industry challenges presented by corporate partners.”

UNCW Secures $25 Million for Healthcare and Education

In a separate development, UNCW has received a $25 million philanthropic gift from Dr. Yousry Sayed and his wife, Linda, to support teacher recruitment, retention, and healthcare education.

UNCW Chancellor Aswani K. Volety expressed gratitude, stating, “This historic gift will expand programmes, enhance facilities, and provide greater opportunities for students for generations to come.”

Of the total amount, $20 million will be used over five years to advance clinical care, medical education, and healthcare accessibility. Dr. Sayed emphasised the importance of investing in future teachers and healthcare professionals, reinforcing UNCW’s mission to transform communities and drive positive change.
