Five Indian students have been selected for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship from Oxford for 2025 following a rigorous selection process. The winners, Rayan Chakrabarti, Vibha Swaminathan, Avanish Vats, Shubham Narwal, and Pal Aggarwal, will pursue fully funded postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, starting in October 2025.

The Rhodes Scholarship, established in 1903, is the world’s oldest graduate fellowship and has been offered to Indian scholars since 1947. Each year, five exceptional candidates from India are selected for their academic excellence, leadership qualities, and commitment to tackling global challenges.

The selection process involves two rounds of preliminary interviews and a final interview conducted by experts and leaders from various fields. This year’s winners join a cohort of over 100 scholars from around the world who will study at Oxford under this renowned programme.

“The Rhodes Scholarship seeks young individuals with not only academic brilliance but also the energy, leadership, and determination to use their talents for the greater good,” said a statement from the Rhodes Trust.

Applications for the 2026 Rhodes Scholarships will open in June 2025. Interested candidates from around the globe can visit the official website, rhodeshouse.ox.ac.uk/apply, for further details.

This achievement highlights India’s tradition of producing education leaders and underscores the importance of international opportunities in shaping the next generation of global changemakers.
