The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) has raised the bar for its Blaze Forward programme, setting a new baseline of $100,000 for adjusted gross income eligibility. This expansion means that students from families earning $100,000 or less will no longer have to pay tuition and mandatory fees, provided they meet other criteria.

Introduced in 2022, the Blaze Forward programme covers tuition and fees for eligible undergraduate students over four years, as well as for students with an associate degree for two years. This initiative is aimed at Texas residents who qualify for the TEXAS Grant Programme.

UTA President Jennifer Cowley highlighted the success of the programme, stating that in the past year, 49% of undergraduate students had their tuition and fees fully covered. She added, “Thanks to the Board of Regents, even more Texans will be able to experience the transformative power of a UTA education tuition-free.”

This new expansion reflects UTA’s ongoing commitment to supporting students, regardless of their financial background. Provost Tamara L. Brown noted, “Blaze Forward provides meaningful financial assurances to thousands of Texas families.”

The programme will be available to new and transfer students enrolling from the autumn 2025 term as part of UTA’s broader $400 million financial support commitment for students entering in autumn 2024. UTA continues to be recognised for its support of military service members and veterans, recently being named the top public university for military-connected student.
