The University of Wollongong (UOW), a renowned institution from New South Wales, Australia, is set to inaugurate its India campus on 4 November 2024. The new campus will be located in the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), making UOW the second Australian university to have a physical presence in India, following Deakin University’s launch in July.

UOW India will initially offer postgraduate programmes specialising in Computing and Financial Technology. The available courses include the Master of Computing with a specialisation in Data Analytics, Graduate Certificate in Computing, Master of Financial Technology, Extended Master of Financial Technology, and Graduate Certificate in Financial Technology. These programmes have attracted over 700 applicants for just 50 seats in each course, highlighting the high demand for international education in India.

In support of its mission to promote diversity and educational accessibility, UOW India has announced multiple scholarships for the upcoming November intake. Among them, the Women Leaders in FinTech Scholarship offers a 50% fee waiver to encourage female participation in the industry. In addition, the Inaugural Scholarship provides a 50% tuition reduction on all Master’s degrees and a 25% discount on Graduate Certificate programmes for the first trimester.

The university has also partnered with IBM to provide students with access to the company’s Innovation Centre for Education, offering hands-on training in cutting-edge technologies and promising placement opportunities.

Despite initial delays due to monsoon-related issues, UOW is now fully prepared to welcome its first batch of students, bringing top-tier international education to Indian soil.
