The prestigious India-UK Achievers Honours, a flagship initiative of the National Indian Students & Alumni Union UK (NISAU), is set to launch a groundbreaking new category in its 2026 ceremony: a student-centred agent award. This move is poised to fundamentally reshape the international education sector’s approach to student recruitment by prioritising ethical practice and genuine student welfare.

A Quest for Accountability

The new “Agent of the Yeat” award aims to bring unprecedented transparency and accountability to the sector, which guides the world’s largest cohort of international students- Indian nationals. NISAU Chairperson, Sanam Arora, underscored the necessity of this shift, statig that the sector has “operated for too long without a transparent, student-protectice system of accountability.”

This new accolade is hailed as the first of its kind globally to gather direct input from both students and universities to determine which agents truly deserve recognition. The goal is to rebalance power, ensuring that the perspectives of those who learn and those who teach are central to defining ethical quality in the recruitment ecosystem.

Redefining Excellence

The award’s criteria are meticulously designed to move beyond mere enrolment figures, instead focusing on student welfare, employability outcomes, and honet advice. The goal is to celebrate aagencies that act as true partners in the student journey by offering guidance “with honesty and care.”

The evaluation process is rigorous, featuring a three-stage assessment that includes an independent review and endorsements from key sector stakeholders to gaurantee that the recipients exemplify ethical practice and student-centred succes.

The NISAU UK-India Achievers Honours, held in partnership with the UK government, will host its fourth annual editing in February 2026. The new age agent award category will debut as a key feature, spotlighting the agents who have gone above and beyond to safegaurd and enrich the experience of Indian students pursuing their education in the UK.
