University of Sheffield Opens Admissions for MSc in Computer Science with Speech and Natural Language Processing

The University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom has officially opened admissions for its MSc in Computer Science with Speech and Natural Language Processing for the September 2025 intake. Designed for students with a background in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related disciplines, this course prepares graduates for high-demand careers in artificial intelligence and language technologies.

The programme focuses on rapidly evolving areas within AI, including machine learning, linguistics, and signal processing. Students will explore cutting-edge technologies such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek, while building core skills in real-time machine translation, speech recognition, and sentiment analysis.

Applicants must hold a minimum of 60% in a relevant undergraduate degree and an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no component below 6.0. Eligible degree fields include Computing, Computer Science, Mathematics, and other engineering disciplines.

One-third of the course is dedicated to a research dissertation. Under faculty supervision, students will explore advanced topics in natural language processing, speech recognition, and machine learning—ideal preparation for careers in AI development, speech technology, and academic research.

The UK-based university also offers 75 International Postgraduate Taught Merit Scholarships for 2025, each worth £10,000 towards tuition fees. These scholarships are open to all eligible international students, with applications due by 1 pm (UK time) on Monday, 12 May 2025.
