Become a Global Change-Maker: UK’s Chevening Scholarship Applications Now Open!

On Tuesday, the United Kingdom opened the application for Chevening Scholarships.
In its announcement, a statement from the British High Commission in Abuja, added that potential scholars can only apply for the programme from August 6 to November 5, 2024, through Chevening’s online application portal.
This comes after 32 Scholars for the current academic year were chosen from Nigeria.
From the statement: ‘The applications for Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK have commenced today, August 6 to November 5, 2024.’ Applicants are required to apply through the application form available online.
Chevening was established in 1983, and to this date, more than 57,000 professionals have benefitted from the programme. For the 2025/2026 academic year, there are about 1500 scholarship opportunities available for students worldwide, showing that the UK is the country willing to invest in the future generation.
Emma Hennessey, Head of The Scholarships Unit at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), said:
Chevening Scholars, Fellows, and Alumni apply the knowledge and skills acquired while studying in the United Kingdom back in their home countries, making them leaders and agents for positive change in society and therefore contributing positively to making this world a better place for everyone to live, work, and enjoy life.
Chevening is the epitome of the best in the United Kingdom and the world, and our scholars join a rich Chevening family of over 57,000 individuals. I always feel proud of how dedicated the Chevening scholars are, and I am eagerly waiting to welcome the next batch of Chevening scholars.
