ICEF and NAFSA have formed a partnership to increase the number of international students in the United States by enhancing international mobility and expanding opportunities for the professional development of high-quality programmes.

In collaboration with the NAFSA 2025 conference, special emphasis will be placed on the optimal use of education agents to support US colleges and universities seeking to partner with an agent for the first time, through a new ICEF agent networking event.

“It is our pleasure to introduce this new strategic partnership with NAFSA,” emphasised Markus Badde, CEO of ICEF.

“The unity of knowledge and passion for enhancing standards and promoting further internationalisation will contribute to the development of the sector and, above all, improve outcomes and opportunities for future international students.”

This development comes at a time when international education in the US is making important strides. While evidence suggests a post-pandemic recovery in international student numbers, the anticipated 15% reduction in domestic college-aged students starting in 2025 is a major concern for higher education institutions.

“This partnership is NAFSA and ICEF’s response to the global effort to increase and diversify international student enrolment, highlighting the role of institutions and student recruitment agency partners in this process,” emphasised Fanta Aw, NAFSA’s Executive Director and CEO.

ICEF Academy’s Working with Education Agents course will be available to NAFSA members at a reduced fee, while NAFSA’s Essentials of International Credentials Evaluation course, held through ICEF Academy, will also come with a special offer reflecting this partnership.

The NAFSA 2025 conference in San Diego, California, will feature a pre-conference workshop and a special focus on working with education agents, developed in partnership with ICEF Academy and ICEF Monitor.

Additionally, ICEF USA, the first agent-specific networking event, will take place after NAFSA, featuring pre-scheduled bilateral meetings between member institutions and ICEF-registered education agencies from over 90 countries.
