The University of Essex, UK, has unveiled its new Integrated Masters in Science (MSc) in Nursing, offering students a Dual Award in Adult and Mental Health Nursing. This innovative four-year programme is designed to produce versatile nursing professionals equipped to provide comprehensive physical and mental healthcare.

The curriculum combines 50% clinical practice with 50% theoretical study, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in various healthcare settings. Students will specialise in adult or mental health nursing for the first three years but can transition to the dual award track based on academic performance. The final year will focus on the alternative field, enabling graduates to earn qualifications in both areas.

Placements will be available across Essex, exposing students to various environments, including the NHS, private, and voluntary sectors. Entry requirements include A-Level scores of BBC-CCD or equivalent qualifications and an overall IELTS score of 7.0.

Graduates will be eligible for dual registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as both Adult and Mental Health Nurses. The University of Essex currently ranks 11th in the UK for Mental Health Nursing and 28th for general nursing, highlighting its commitment to excellence in nursing education.
