Hungary Opens Applications for Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship at Elte University

Budapest, Hungary – Applications are now open for the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) for the 2025/2026 academic year. This prestigious programme, supported by the Hungarian government, assists international students from over 80 countries, offering numerous benefits to facilitate higher education in Hungary. The application deadline is 15 January 2025.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses, with monthly stipends ranging from HUF 43,700 for bachelor’s and master’s courses to HUF 180,000 for doctoral studies during the research phase. Additional benefits include free visa and residence permit administration, health insurance, and access to university library services.
ELTE offers a diverse range of programmes under this scholarship, including Social Sciences, Informatics, Humanities, Business, Psychology, and Education Sciences. A preparatory Hungarian language course is also available, lasting one year. Bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes span three, two, and up to four years, respectively.
The scholarship programme is highly sought after, offering full-degree and partial study options in English and other languages. In 2024, over 66,000 applications were submitted, with approximately 4,500 scholarships awarded—a testament to its growing popularity.
According to an official statement, “Scholarship holders benefit from academic and personal support during their studies, with a European degree opening doors to the global job market.”
Interested students are encouraged to apply early and seize this opportunity to study in Hungary, a country renowned for its high academic standards and vibrant cultural heritage.
