In a significant boost to educational collaboration between India and Australia, a consortium of six leading Australian universities has announced plans to set up a campus in Gurugram, Haryana. The campus will offer undergraduate courses in cutting-edge fields such as Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Financial Technology, Tourism and Hospitality, and Sports Management.

The initiative, led by the Australian High Commission’s Deputy High Commissioner Nick McCaffrey and other delegates, including James Cook University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simon Biggs, aims to make global education more accessible to Indian students. Haryana’s Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, assured full support for the project, proposing facilities and infrastructure to expedite its establishment.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is expected to be signed soon, with Haryana’s Foreign Cooperation Department facilitating the process. The campus will provide Indian students with Australian university certification, offering global employability while saving on the substantial costs of studying abroad.

“This collaboration will allow students to pursue high-demand courses locally and still gain international qualifications,” said a state government representative. The campus will initially offer four-year integrated courses, with plans to expand offerings based on regional and global requirements.

The move is part of broader efforts to strengthen ties between the two nations, focusing on improving education and skill development. This initiative not only saves costs for Indian students but also aligns with Haryana’s push to enhance educational opportunities in the state.

Upon completion of their courses, graduates will hold internationally recognised degrees, paving the way for lucrative career opportunities in India and globally. This landmark partnership further cements Australia’s commitment to enhancing its educational footprint in India while fostering innovation and knowledge exchange.
