Two leading UK institutions, Coventry University and Queen’s University Belfast, are set to establish campuses in Gujarat’s GIFT City, further enhancing India’s international education landscape. Both universities have submitted applications to the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), with Queen’s University Belfast recently receiving approval to commence operations.

Queen’s University Belfast, renowned for its academic excellence, plans to launch postgraduate programmes as its initial offering in India. With over 24,000 international students globally, including 1,000 from India, the university’s expansion underscores its commitment to strengthening its global footprint.

This development follows the successful entry of Australian universities into GIFT City. Deakin University welcomed its first cohort in July 2024, while the University of Wollongong has already commenced offering programmes on campus.

The addition of Coventry University and Queen’s University Belfast highlights GIFT City’s growing appeal as a hub for international education, offering students in India access to world-class academic resources and opportunities.

This expansion aligns with India’s vision to enhance global academic collaboration and foster innovation in higher education. By hosting campuses of prestigious universities, GIFT City is poised to become a leading destination for both international and domestic students seeking quality education.

With this initiative, the UK and India are set to further strengthen their educational ties, paving the way for transformative academic exchanges and research collaborations.
