Australia’s University of Tasmania is now accepting applications for its Master of Strategic Communication programme, starting in 2025. With no strict application deadline, prospective students are encouraged to apply months in advance to secure their Confirmation of Enrolment (COE). The tuition fee for the two-year, full-time course is approximately AUD 71,648.

This advanced programme aims to equip students with the expertise to excel in diverse communication landscapes such as creative industries, sciences, and politics. Designed for graduates of business, arts, and sciences, the course focuses on tackling real-world challenges and developing professional-level communication and analytical skills.

The university allows students to specialise in areas unique to Tasmania, including Environmental Conservation, Marketing Communication, Public and Environmental Health, and Tourism and Experience. According to the university’s statement, the programme leverages Tasmania’s industry connections and the Media School’s research excellence to provide cutting-edge education.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any field with a credit average.
  • Have at least three years of professional experience in public relations, journalism, or related industries.

Those who do not meet English proficiency requirements must achieve an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 overall, with no band below 6, unless they are citizens of, or educated in, an approved English-speaking country.

Award for Tackling Food Waste in Australia

Meanwhile, the University of Tasmania celebrates student Ramida Varahakaporn, who has been recognised with the Tom McMeekin Award for her innovative research in food waste reduction. Her thesis explored the use of second-grade strawberries in freeze-dried products to combat food waste.

“It’s meaningful to see my hard work rewarded,” said Varahakaporn. “With over seven million tonnes of food waste in Australia annually, I hope my project inspires sustainable solutions and creates high-quality products for consumers.”

The University of Tasmania continues to make strides in education and research, cementing Australia’s reputation as a hub for academic excellence.
