University of Sheffield Announces GREAT Scholarships 2025 for Indian Students

The University of Sheffield has announced the GREAT Scholarships 2025 – India, in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign. Valued at £12,500, the scholarship is available to Indian students applying for postgraduate taught courses in the UK.

The British Council is offering a total of 26 GREAT Scholarships 2025 across multiple subjects—including Humanities, Law, and STEM—in collaboration with 72 UK universities. This initiative aims to provide international students with access to world-class education in the United Kingdom.

Application and Eligibility Details

The deadline to apply for the GREAT Scholarships 2025 is 12 May 2025, at 1 PM UK time, with results to be announced by 11 June 2025. Successful applicants must confirm acceptance within the stipulated time frame upon receiving the scholarship.

To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be a current resident and passport holder of India.
  • Have applied for a postgraduate taught programme starting in Autumn 2025.
  • Have received an offer for a full-time course from the University of Sheffield.
  • Be classified as self-funded for tuition fee purposes.
  • Not be a sponsored student.
  • Be enrolled in a full-time, on-campus programme (part-time and distance learning students are not eligible)
  • Be applying for a Master’s programme solely at the University of Sheffield (programmes split between the university and a partner institution do not qualify)

Additionally, the GREAT Scholarship 2025 cannot be combined with other University of Sheffield scholarships, including:

  • International Postgraduate Taught Scholarship
  • International Postgraduate Taught Merit Scholarship
  • MBA Scholarship
  • Professor David Locker Scholarship in Social Science, Oral Health and Dentistry
  • NCUK Postgraduate Taught Scholarship

The GREAT Scholarships 2025 programme supports students from 15 countries, including India, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Kenya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam, in pursuing higher education in the United Kingdom. This initiative strengthens international academic ties and expands opportunities for global learning.
