For the fifth time, Brown University has been named the top Fulbright-producing university in the United States. In the 2024-25 academic year, the institution saw 40 undergraduates, graduate students, and recent alumni receive the prestigious Fulbright award, cementing its position as a leader in global education.

The U.S. State Department, which grants the Fulbright scholarships, recognised Brown University as the top producer in the country. The university has maintained its position among the top three Fulbright-producing institutions for the past nine years.

Joel Simundich, Assistant Dean of the College for Fellowships, praised the achievement, stating, “This recognition reflects the creativity, ambition, and above all, the care our students bring to building and strengthening connections with communities around the world.”

Brown’s Fulbright Scholars Make a Global Impact

Brown’s Fulbright recipients for 2024-25 are currently conducting research or teaching in nearly two dozen countries across North and South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. Research scholars are working in diverse fields such as education, economics, filmmaking, and ethnomusicology. Meanwhile, English teaching assistants are placed in high schools, primary schools, and universities, facilitating cultural exchange between the USA and their host countries.

One of this year’s awardees, Marielle Buxbaum, who is teaching in Ecuador, highlighted the programme’s impact, saying, “There’s such an emphasis on family here that it almost feels like home. I have, like, five ‘mums’ in Ecuador now, and it’s actually helped me get closer to my own family.”

Brown University’s continued success in producing Fulbright scholars underscores its commitment to global engagement and academic excellence, strengthening its reputation as one of the top universities in the USA.
