The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially launched applications for its new 10-year Blue Visa, a long-term residency scheme designed to attract global talent working in sustainability and environmental innovation.

An extension of the UAE’s renowned Golden Visa, the Blue Visa offers a six-month multiple-entry period for applicants to complete their residency process and is open to both domestic and international candidates.

First announced in 2024 and formally launched in 2025, the initiative aligns with the UAE’s strategic commitment to sustainability, following the country’s declaration of 2024 as the “Year of Sustainability” for the second consecutive year. The visa aims to support the nation’s vision of becoming a global hub for climate-conscious innovation and green technology.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has outlined eligibility for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to fields such as environmental protection, climate action, clean and renewable energy, and sustainability. Qualifying applicants include scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors, as well as professionals working in environmental institutions across the UAE.

Applicants can submit their request via the ICP’s smart services portal or mobile application. Required documentation includes a valid passport with at least six months’ validity, recent photographs, and proof of substantial work or impact in a relevant field. The application process reportedly takes just seven minutes, with approvals issued within one working day upon verification.

For international applicants, including those from India, the entire process is conducted online. Upon successful submission and payment, confirmation is sent directly via email.

By introducing the Blue Visa, the UAE further cements its reputation as a forward-thinking destination for global talent in sustainability, offering long-term residency and fostering cross-border collaboration in one of the most critical sectors of the future.
