Denmark is inviting applications for 16 fully funded PhD fellowships in neuroscience through the prestigious Neuroscience Academy Denmark (NAD). The fellowships, which begin on 1 January 2026, are open to highly motivated and talented candidates from across the globe seeking to advance their careers in neuroscience research. The deadline for submitting applications is 11 August 2025, 4:00 PM CET.

These competitive fellowships span a broad range of disciplines, including Molecular Biology, Neuroengineering, Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, Neurobiology, and Cognitive Neuroscience. All applications will undergo a rigorous selection process, with shortlisted candidates invited for Zoom interviews in September 2025. Final decisions will be announced by October 2025.

Applicants must hold an MD or MSc in relevant fields such as neuroscience, medicine, molecular biomedicine, pharmacology, psychology, or computer science. A genuine interest in neuroscience research and projects is a key requirement. Candidates should demonstrate an investigative mindset, be self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.

Strong English communication skills are essential. Those from non-English speaking countries must submit IELTS (minimum 6.5) or TOEFL (minimum 560 written) scores if their previous education was not conducted in English.

The fellowship structure includes three lab rotations during the first year:

  • 1st Rotation: 1 January – 22 March 2026
  • 2nd Rotation: 23 March – 7 June 2026
  • 3rd Rotation: 8 June – 6 September 2026

Following these rotations, from 7 September to 31 December 2026, fellows will be based in their assigned PhD laboratory where they will finalise their PhD proposals and prepare for their doctoral research.

This initiative underscores Denmark’s commitment to nurturing global talent in neuroscience and advancing groundbreaking research within a structured, collaborative, and internationally competitive environment.
