The University of London, in collaboration with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), has announced the launch of a new BSc (Hons) Professional Accountancy degree, offering students a unique opportunity to earn both an academic qualification and a professional designation through a single, integrated programme.

Scheduled to open for applications in December 2025, the online-first degree allows students to align their academic studies with the globally recognised ACCA qualification. This innovative format enables learners to simultaneously work toward becoming qualified accountants while earning a university degree, eliminating the need to choose between academic and professional paths.

The degree is designed with maximum flexibility in mind, featuring fully online learning and the option for supported instruction or in-person sessions through the University of London’s global network of recognised teaching centres.

Alan Hatfield, Executive Director of Content, Quality and Innovation at ACCA, called the programme a “career launchpad” and emphasised its potential to increase accessibility and inclusivity in the accountancy profession. “This new route bridges the accountancy skills gap that exists in many countries and supports students in their ambition to achieve dual qualifications,” he noted.

Dr Sky Zheng, Executive Director of University of London Worldwide, added, “This collaboration offers students the best of both worlds – academic knowledge and professional credibility – enhancing their global career prospects.”

The BSc builds on an existing partnership between the two institutions, which already allows ACCA members and affiliates to pursue an MSc in Professional Accountancy.

In India, where interest in the ACCA qualification has surged in recent years, the integrated programme presents a compelling alternative to the traditional CA pathway. Indian students now have access to a globally recognised degree and professional title through a single enrolment, opening doors to international opportunities in accounting and finance.

This joint initiative marks a significant development in global education and professional training, setting a new standard for integrated learning in the field of accountancy.
