India’s O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has formalised strategic partnerships with two colleges of the University of Cambridge: Lucy Cavendish College and Murray Edwards College. These partnerships aim to launch short-term study abroad programmes that foster global academic collaboration and inclusive excellence.

Signed during a high-level JGU delegation visit to Cambridge on 1 and 2 July, the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) mark a significant step in enhancing JGU’s global engagement efforts.
As part of the collaboration, JGU will introduce two new short-term study abroad programmes: ‘Commercial Laws and Corporate Governance’ at Lucy Cavendish College, and ‘The Era of FinTech:

Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Inclusion’ at Murray Edwards College. These initiatives will focus on interdisciplinary learning in globally relevant fields such as law, business, and emerging technologies.

The move aligns with shared values of diversity, access, and educational innovation. Cambridge’s inclusive ethos complements JGU’s commitment to transformative and globally integrated education.

“This partnership with Cambridge’s forward-thinking colleges reflects our vision to empower students through global exposure,” said Prof. (Dr) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor of JGU. “Our students will benefit from studying under leading scholars in an inspiring academic environment.”

Around 100 JGU students are expected to participate in these programmes, gaining hands-on academic and cultural experience in the UK.

Representatives from both Cambridge colleges expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. Prof Dame Madeleine Atkins of Lucy Cavendish College highlighted the partnership’s global potential. Emma Hilditch of Murray Edwards College noted the importance of establishing long-term academic ties with one of India’s top universities.

JGU, ranked India’s top private university by QS for three consecutive years, continues to expand its international footprint. These new partnerships strengthen academic ties between India and the UK and highlight the growing global presence of Indian universities.
