The application window for the prestigious Chevening Scholarships 2026–27 is now open, offering fully funded opportunities for eligible Indian students to pursue a one-year master’s degree at a UK university. Funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and partner organisations, the scholarship covers flights, accommodation, and tuition fees.

Applications must be submitted by 7th October 2025 (12:00 UTC) via chevening.org. Applicants are required to choose three eligible UK master’s courses and secure at least one unconditional offer by the specified deadline.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, candidates must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country, including India, and commit to returning home for at least two years after the award ends. Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree meeting the UK master’s entry requirements and have at least 2,800 hours (approximately two years) of post-graduation work experience. This experience can include full-time or part-time employment, voluntary work, or internships—paid or unpaid.

Notably, the 2026–27 cycle introduces a significant change: only work experience gained after graduation will count towards the requirement. Any experience undertaken during study will no longer be considered. Therefore, individuals graduating after October 2023 will be ineligible, as they would not meet the 2,800-hour threshold in time.

The Chevening Scholarships are known for fostering future leaders, influencers, and decision-makers, offering them a chance to study in the UK’s world-class institutions and join a global alumni network. Indian applicants who meet the criteria are encouraged to prepare their applications early to maximise their chances of selection.
