The United Arab Emirates has cemented its position as the Middle East and North Africa’s most sought-after study destination, capturing 59% of all searches in the region, according to new Keystone data.

The report highlights a 90% rise in international study interest for MENA destinations in June 2025 compared to the same period last year, with the UAE leading this surge. Demand is being driven by students from South Asia, particularly India and Pakistan, alongside rising numbers from Southeast Asia, Europe, and even the United States.

Education experts suggest that policy shifts in traditional destinations such as the US, UK, Canada, and Australia have accelerated the UAE’s appeal. Tightening visa rules, rising costs, and immigration concerns are prompting students to look for quality education that remains affordable and accessible.

“Dubai is emerging as a frontrunner, offering global education within a short flight radius for Indian families,” said Suneet Singh Kochar, CEO of Fateh Education. “It strikes the right balance of cultural familiarity, safety, inclusivity, and parental access.”

Beyond location; subject availability and tuition fees remain central decision-making factors. The UAE is particularly attractive for undergraduate students, with families appreciating both the affordability and the strong industry links of local institutions.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has also streamlined admissions for the Fall 2025–26 intake, cutting document requirements by 86% and enabling students to register easily across 59 institutions. Applicants must finalise their decisions through the Ministry’s portal by 11th August 2025.

Experts emphasise that Dubai’s universities are closely aligned with national priorities, offering programmes in areas such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, logistics, and fintech – industries directly tied to the country’s long-term economic goals. With over 42% of Dubai’s international student population now coming from India, the UAE is positioning itself as not just an education hub, but a launchpad for global careers.
