Applications are now open for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2025, announced by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC). The scheme provides full financial support to students from eligible Commonwealth nations to pursue one-year Master’s programmes at UK universities.

Part of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP), the initiative reflects the UK government’s commitment to global development and education opportunities across the Commonwealth. The programme is designed for candidates from disadvantaged and lower-middle-income countries who otherwise would not have the financial means to study in the UK.

Under the scholarship, selected students will receive comprehensive funding, including tuition fees, living allowance, and return flights. The funding is applicable only to the approved Master’s course and cannot be transferred or extended to other programmes. Scholars must study full-time and are not permitted to take up any other academic courses during the award period.

To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of an approved Commonwealth country or hold refugee status and permanent residency there. They must hold a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1), or in certain cases, a lower second-class degree with an appropriate postgraduate qualification. Importantly, applicants must demonstrate financial need and confirm that they could not pursue studies in the UK without this support.

The application process is conducted through participating UK universities. Initial shortlisting will be carried out by the universities, while the final decisions rest with the CSC. Candidates are encouraged to carefully review the list of eligible institutions and courses before applying, ensuring their application aligns with the development priorities of their home country.

Selection will be based on academic merit and the applicant’s potential to contribute to development upon returning home. This ensures that the scholarships not only support individual scholars but also generate wider benefits for their communities.

For full details and to apply, candidates should visit the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s official website.
