The visa itself is valif for the length of the academic programme and is renewable annually. However, students must register with the residency authority (Servio de Estrangeirose Fronteiras) within 90 days of entering Portugal.

The cost of studying in Portugal is attracting international students (including Indians) to study there. To cover the cost of living and education in Portugal, international students are also allowed to for 20 hours per week during classes and full-time during breaks.
