Three outstanding seniors from Brown University’s Class of 2025 have been awarded prestigious international fellowships, enabling them to pursue advanced studies abroad. These students will continue their academic journeys through the Marshall Scholarship, Schwarzman Scholarship, and Pickering Fellowship—significant milestones in their careers.

Eric Gottlieb has been awarded the Marshall Scholarship, which provides full funding for two years of study in the UK. He will attend the University of Oxford, where he aims to explore societal challenges and contribute to a more equitable and just world. “I wanted to be in a position where my work made a difference,” Gottlieb reflected on his time at Brown.

Jing Jing Yang has been selected as a Schwarzman Scholar and will pursue a master’s degree in global affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Shaped by her international background, Yang sees this opportunity as a platform to build connections and deepen her understanding of China’s evolving relationship with the West. “Schwarzman’s diversity and collaborative culture provide an amazing environment for me to grow,” she said.

Michael Ochoa has received the Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship, which will fund his postgraduate studies in international affairs. Aiming to become a political officer in the Foreign Service, Ochoa hopes to address global instability and advocate for equity in national security. “It was surreal to achieve my dream after years of hard work,” he remarked.

Assistant Dean of the College for Fellowships, Joel Simundich, praised the students’ achievements, stating: “These students reflect the dedication and vision that all Brown students bring to their academic and professional pursuits.”

With these prestigious fellowships, these scholars are poised to make meaningful contributions to global society.
