The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2024 has once again recognised Florida State University’s Dedman College of Hospitality for its exceptional contributions to tourism and hospitality education. The ranking evaluates institutions based on high-quality research, world-class output, research impact, faculty, and international collaboration, placing Dedman College among the most prestigious hospitality schools globally.

Dean of Dedman College, Don Farr, praised the achievement, stating, “This reflects the collective efforts of the Dedman community. We go beyond academic excellence by providing a transformative education that empowers students to lead confidently and innovate in the global landscape.”

The university highlighted the unique, personalised academic experiences offered to students, including internships and professional programmes such as the Little Dinner Series. These hands-on opportunities prepare graduates with the skills, connections, and environment necessary for success in the hospitality industry.

In addition to this global recognition, Florida State University celebrated its fall graduates, with 2,992 students completing their degrees this semester. University President Richard McCullough encouraged the graduates to embrace challenges and create meaningful change in their careers, reminding them, “As you leave Florida State, you will always be a Seminole. This campus will always be your home.”

Provost Jim Clark, the university’s chief academic officer, echoed McCullough’s sentiments, saying, “You bring with you the solutions to global challenges, scientific discoveries, great works of art, and the strategies that will shape the nation for the better.”

This recognition further solidifies Florida State University’s position as a leader in academic excellence, innovation, and global impact, particularly in the dynamic field of tourism and hospitality.
