ICEF, a leading accreditation and training organisation in the international education sector, has unveiled an artificial intelligence-powered compliance platform designed to improve transparency and ethical standards in educator-agency partnerships.

The new tool, ICEF Due Diligent, is being described as the first AI-driven system built to monitor compliance risks, assess agent activity, and provide institutions with real-time oversight of their recruitment networks. The platform tracks agent finances, ownership structures, social media activity, and marketing practices in-country, giving educators enhanced visibility of both agencies and subagents.

ICEF, which already accredits over 2,300 agencies and has trained more than 140,000 counsellors worldwide through its ICEF Academy, said the tool was developed following consultations with more than 400 stakeholders. A common challenge raised was the administrative burden of manually auditing large agent networks each year; a gap the platform aims to bridge.

Powered by advanced AI and social media listening software, Due Diligent constantly scans markets for unapproved branding, misleading claims, or reputational risks. It also examines the individuals behind agencies, not just the businesses themselves, enabling institutions to identify bad actors who may attempt to re-enter the market under new identities.

Tony Lee, ICEF’s Chief Visionary Officer, explained: “The platform is about transparency. It helps institutions understand who is really behind an agency, while allowing them to track in real time how their brand is being represented.”

The launch forms part of ICEF’s wider “Together for Transparency” campaign, aimed at raising professional standards and strengthening trust between educators, agents, and students worldwide. Markus Badde, CEO of ICEF, highlighted the importance of trust in today’s increasingly regulated international education landscape. “ICEF Due Diligent gives educators, agencies and stakeholders the confidence that their partners meet the highest professional and ethical standards, continuously,” he said.

With international student mobility playing an important role in countries such as the UK and Australia, the introduction of an AI-powered compliance framework is expected to reassure universities, policymakers, and families that recruitment practices remain credible, transparent, and aligned with global best practices.
