Connecticut, US – With the rising demand for communication specialists across industries, Sacred Heart University (SHU) has introduced a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication & Public Relations (SCPR). This programme aims to equip students with essential skills in brand management, political communication, nonprofit communication, and digital media strategies.

SCPR Programme Director Foluke Omosun highlighted the course’s relevance in today’s job market, stating, “Our students learn how to craft and deploy effective, targeted messages and campaigns using traditional and digital communication platforms to support organisational goals.” She emphasised that these skills are crucial for shaping public perception, increasing brand loyalty, and engaging audiences across various fields.

The programme focuses on hands-on, experiential learning, with faculty members bringing diverse industry expertise to help students develop practical, research-backed communication strategies. Graduates will be well-prepared for careers in public relations, corporate communication, and digital media.

SHU’s Maureen Ruby Tackles Global Education Crisis with UNESCO

In a testament to Sacred Heart University’s global impact, Maureen Ruby, associate professor at the Isabelle Farrington College of Education & Human Development (FCEHD), recently represented SHU at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) Global Alliance on the Science of Learning. The annual meeting, held in Paris, brought together 100 experts from 30 countries to address global education challenges.

Ruby, who participated in the literacy group, remarked, “It’s amazing how small the world gets when discussing global education issues. The expertise from across the globe was inspiring, and we all share a passion and commitment to advancing education worldwide.”

FCEHD Dean Mel Horton praised Ruby’s involvement, stating, “Her work with UNESCO enhances SHU’s global impact and contributes significantly to education worldwide. We are incredibly proud of her achievements.”

With its new strategic communication programme and strong international engagement, Sacred Heart University continues to position itself as a leader in higher education and global development.
