Singapore Management University Launches Free Sustainability and Green Finance Course

Singapore Management University (SMU) has introduced a free online course titled “Introduction to Sustainability and Sustainable Finance” for Vietnamese professionals. As Vietnam’s green economy is projected to grow by $300 billion by 2050, the course aims to equip professionals, businesses, and aspiring leaders with essential sustainability and finance skills.
The course, spanning 8 to 12 hours, is designed for both beginners and experienced professionals looking to deepen their understanding of corporate sustainability and transition into sustainable finance roles. Beyond theoretical insights, the programme also offers practical applications, benefiting managers, businesses, and individuals.
Additionally, SMU’s Alumni Navigator Program connects students with mentors, enhancing learning opportunities. From January 2025, the university will offer scholarships covering up to 40% of tuition fees for its Master’s programme.
Experts on SMU’s Green Finance Initiative
Kenneth Choo, Director of Overseas Centres at SMU, highlighted the university’s commitment:

This course provides essential knowledge and tools to empower individuals and organisations in driving meaningful change. By strengthening sustainability principles within Vietnam’s financial sector, we aim to foster long-term collaborations and enhance our regional presence.”
Patrina Lim, Regional Director of Singapore Global Network, also praised the initiative:

Singapore continues to position itself as a regional leader in sustainability education. With this initiative, SMU is expanding its footprint in Vietnam and reinforcing its role in shaping the future of sustainable finance in Southeast Asia.
