The University of East Anglia (UEA), England, has announced a new one-year postgraduate programme – the MSc in Global Public Health – set to begin in September 2025. This course, launched by UEA’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, is designed to prepare students to address some of the world’s most pressing health challenges.

Aimed at students passionate about improving global health outcomes, the MSc programme offers a blend of interdisciplinary education, real-world case studies, and research-based learning. It will cover vital themes such as sustainability, health equity, and the intersection of climate change and public health.

Professor Christopher Burton, Dean of Health Sciences at UEA, said: “Public health plays a crucial role in tackling some of the most pressing challenges the world is facing today. At UEA, we’re dedicated to equipping the next generation of global health leaders through a blend of interdisciplinary education, hands-on experience, and cutting-edge research.”

The course is open to both UK and international applicants. International students are required to hold at least a 2:2 UK bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a health-related subject. Non-native English speakers must demonstrate language proficiency through an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no less than 6.0 in Speaking and Writing and not below 5.5 in Reading and Listening.

The tuition fee for international students for the academic year 2025/26 is set at £22,700. Estimated living expenses are £1,136 per month.

Graduates can pursue careers in global health policy, humanitarian work, climate and health analysis, and research roles within international NGOs, government agencies, and global institutions.

This launch strengthens the UK’s position as a global education hub for public health, offering students the skills and knowledge to address health crises worldwide. Applications can be submitted via the official university website – uea.ac.uk.
