University of Manchester Opens Applications for Graphene Enterprise Award 2025

The University of Manchester has announced that applications are now open for the prestigious Eli and Britt Harari Graphene Enterprise Award 2025. This award invites postdoctoral researchers, recent graduates, and current students from the university to apply for support in establishing new businesses focused on graphene and other 2D materials.
The deadline for applications is set for 10th February 2025. The selected candidates will receive invaluable assistance in launching their companies, with the award designed to foster innovation in the field of graphene-related technologies. The university stated that applications will be evaluated based on the strength of their commercial proposition, particularly how their technology can be applied to create profitable business opportunities.
The Graphene Enterprise Award offers two major prizes: £50,000 for the winner and £20,000 for the runner-up. Candidates must submit a pitch deck in the form of a PowerPoint or PDF presentation during the initial stage. Those selected will be invited to a final round for further evaluation. The award is open to university students and recent graduates from the past two years.
This initiative aligns with the University of Manchester’s commitment to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, especially in the cutting-edge field of graphene technology. The award will provide winners with not only financial backing but also valuable mentorship to turn their ideas into successful commercial ventures.
In related news, the University of Manchester is also participating in a study led by the University of Cambridge, exploring the impact of social media and smartphone use on children’s well-being. Dr Margarita Panayiotou from the University of Manchester is part of this significant research, which aims to provide evidence-based insights into the effects of technology on young people’s development.
