University of Pennsylvania Tops 2025 Financial Times MBA Ranking

The University of Pennsylvania, Wharton has secured the top position in the prestigious 2025 Financial Times Global MBA Ranking, reaffirming the dominance of US universities in business education. Columbia Business School claimed the second spot, followed by IESE Business School in Spain and Insead in France.

This year’s ranking featured 100 universities, evaluated based on factors such as salary progression, career growth, value for money, alumni network, and faculty diversity. The United States led the list, with multiple institutions ranking in the top 20, including MIT Sloan (6th), Kellogg School of Management (10th), and Harvard Business School (13th).

UK’s Performance in the Global MBA Ranking

Among UK institutions, London Business School emerged as the country’s top performer, securing the 7th position globally. Other UK business schools featured in the top 50 include:

  • University of Oxford: Saïd (26th)
  • University of Cambridge: Judge (35th)
  • Imperial College Business School (38th)
  • Alliance Manchester Business School (46th)
  • Despite the UK’s rich academic legacy, only one of its institutions, London Business School, managed to break into the global top 10.

Key Insights from the Ranking

The 2025 Financial Times MBA Ranking was based on a survey of 6,299 MBA alumni from the class of 2021, alongside data from universities on newly enrolled students and faculty. Technology and consulting remained the most popular post-MBA career sectors, followed closely by financial services.

Graduates rated their MBA experiences highly in finance, strategy, and general management, while e-commerce, social governance, and environmental studies received lower scores.

Global MBA Landscape

A total of 125 schools participated in this year’s ranking, with 11 new entrants. The increasing competition highlights the evolving nature of business education, with universities adapting their programmes to meet industry demands.

With the US and UK maintaining strong representation in the rankings, the 2025 list reflects the ongoing global appeal and value of an MBA degree.
