University of Southampton Appoints Prof Eloise Phillips as Academic Provost for New Delhi Campus

The University of Southampton, England has appointed Professor Eloise Phillips as the Academic Provost for its New Delhi campus, marking a significant step in the university’s global expansion. She will officially take up the position in May and will oversee the arrival of the first cohort of students in August.

Professor Phillips brings extensive experience in international education and healthcare academia. She currently serves as Head of Health, Wellbeing, and Human Science programmes at the University of Birmingham’s Dubai campus, where she played a key role in its establishment. Prior to that, she was an Associate Dean at Aston University.

A registered nurse and advanced clinical practitioner, Prof Phillips has worked across clinical practice, healthcare leadership, research, and academia. Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, she said:

“I was drawn to the University of Southampton for its mission to impact and transform students’ lives and the region. I look forward to leading our international campus in education, research, and knowledge exchange.”

The New Delhi campus will be an important hub for higher education collaboration between India and the United Kingdom, further strengthening ties between the two countries.

Professor Andrew Atherton, Vice President of International and Engagement at the University of Southampton, highlighted Prof Phillips’ expertise in developing international campuses, stating:

“Eloise joins us from the University of Birmingham Dubai campus and so has extensive experience of international campus development.”

With the University of Southampton expanding its presence in India, the New Delhi campus aims to provide world-class education and research opportunities to students while fostering global academic partnerships.
