The University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom has announced the Engineering: Glasgow 850 International Master’s Scholarships and the Dean’s International Excellence Awards to commemorate Glasgow’s 850th anniversary. These scholarships are available to eligible self-funded, postgraduate-taught international (non-EU) students enrolling in on-campus courses within the Faculty of Engineering in September 2025.

The Engineering: Glasgow 850 International Master’s Scholarship, valued at £5,000, will be deducted from tuition fees. Eligible courses include Architecture, Aeronautical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Renewable Energy, and various other engineering disciplines.

Eligibility and Application Process

  • Applicants must be international (non-EU) fee-paying and self-funded students.
  • They must hold an offer for a full-time, postgraduate-taught course at the University of Strathclyde, commencing in September 2025.
  • The scholarship is non-transferable and cannot be deferred to another entry point.
  • Students receiving full sponsorship from embassies or government offices are not eligible.
  • The application deadline for these scholarships is 12 September 2025. According to the university, “The Faculty of Engineering’s decision on the awarding of scholarships is final.”

Dean’s International Excellence Awards

Additionally, the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde is offering a limited number of Dean’s International Excellence Awards, valued between £7,000 and £10,000. These awards are granted to exceptional postgraduate-taught applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic achievements—typically equivalent to a UK first-class undergraduate degree—and the potential to make a significant contribution to the university community and their chosen profession post-graduation.

Eligible students will automatically be considered for the Dean’s Excellence Award, with successful candidates notified before the 31 July 2025 deadline. A separate application is not required.

This initiative highlights the University of Strathclyde’s commitment to fostering global talent in engineering and enhancing its academic reputation on an international scale.
