Yale College in New Haven, Connecticut, United States has admitted 728 students through its early action programme for the Class of 2029, alongside 66 students selected via the QuestBridge College Match programme. Out of 6,729 early action applicants, 71% were denied admission, 17% deferred for reconsideration, and 1% had incomplete or withdrawn applications.

Jeremiah Quinlan, Yale’s Dean of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid, praised the calibre of applicants, highlighting their achievements, ambitions, and diverse experiences. He noted, “We look forward to offering admission to many more outstanding applicants through the regular decision round.”

This year marks the first cohort applying under Yale’s reinstated policy requiring submission of standardised tests such as the SAT, ACT, IB, or AP. Quinlan affirmed that the policy has helped the Yale Senior Named Marshall Scholarcollege identify strong candidates, emphasising that scores are considered alongside other factors, including a student’s high school environment.

Yale senior Emma Yanai has been awarded the prestigious Marshall Scholarship, joining 36 recipients globally. She will pursue an M.A. in Postcolonial Studies and Korean Intensive Language at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.

Yanai aims to uplift marginalised voices and reframe historical narratives. John Raine, Chair of the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission, described the scholars as “powerful advocates for excellence across international relations, science, technology, health, and the humanities.”

With these announcements, Yale College continues to cement its reputation for fostering exceptional talent and preparing students to lead across disciplines globally.
